It's the end of April already? Glad May is tomorrow. Maybe soon, we will start to get some Spring/Summer weather up here soon. It's still a bit chilly up here in WA. One weekend it was nice (maybe upper 60's low 70's), and then by the following weekend we got snow for 3 days here at the house. Crazy. This past weekend, the weather somewhat cooperated so Michael did lots of yardwork and planted the veggie garden. Hopefully, we will have sweet corn, onions, scallions, squash, zucchini, sunflowers and a GIANT pumpkin so I can enter it in the Puyallup Fair this year. One of these days, I'm going to enter one...maybe this year? He even installed a sprinkler system for the garden to make it easier to water.

We're getting ready for our trip to CA next weekend and we're very excited. I'm excited for the sunshine and warm weather.

Donation update - Total so far of $1,750. That's 88% of goal of at least $2,000. Thank you, thank you, thank you. I've been given lots of names to wear on my tribute signs In Honor Of... or In Memory Of... Please check out the links to them to the left. Quite a long list.

What a great week of donations. I'm up to $1,400 which is 70% of my goal of at least $2,000. Thank you everyone! I've received additional names to add to my tribute signs. Those have been updated as well. You can click on the links to the left to see each sign.
As for training, I've been going to the gym religiously and walk at least 2 miles everyday. I'm trying to build my endurance to go at least 3.1 miles (5K). I do my weights too. You wouldn't know by looking at me that I can't feel the left side of my body. I'm glad for that.
My left side feels asleep without the pins and needles feeling. I had pins and needles feeling along with burning hot and freezing cold feeling only on my left side. But I take medication to dull those sensations that cause that discomfort. So next time your hand falls asleep, don't wake it up. Instead try lifting a 20 lb. weight and see how it feels for me :)

Tax day is here. And in 25 days, the 5K walk will be here. This is another reminder that all donations are 100% tax deductible. I received another generous donations from my new boss last night and friend this morning bringing the total donations so far to $1,180.00.
That's right, for those of you who have not heard yet, I have a job again. I'm now doing loans for Allied Home Mortgage. I love it. So if you are looking to refi your home or are looking to buy a new one (Good luck Denys!), let me know.

I'm heading to the gym now to put in more miles on the treadmill. I love saying that. Michael and I were talking the other day about my progress from when I joined the gym. I'm sure I improved lots from when I joined but I see it everyday, so the progression is not as noticable to me. But then we put it into prospective, when I started in January, I could only do the treadmill V-E-R-Y slow for about 2 minutes. And I had to swing my left leg around using my hip to take a step.
Now, I'm doing at least 2 miles a day in 40 minutes plus doing upper and lower body weights. Still limping but I trying to improve that and smooth out my gait.

Monday, April 14, 2008

Well I had a great weekend. The weather up here has been the best so far this year. But alas, it was only for one day. But for that one day, I got to wear shorts and not freeze. It was sunny and warm.
Michael and I went to the Truck and Jeep show at the Puyallup Fairgrounds. We met up with our neighbors Paul and Brock. Surprise, my cousin David was there with a Pro Comp display.

Michael knew all along Dave was coming up and I found out a couple of nights before at dinner when he just walked in. Blew me away! Way cool.

These were a couple of photos taken at Toyota's display.

I've been able to do 2 miles on the treadmil consistently at the gym. Now to gear up to 3.1 miles to complete a full 5K walk. My pace is a 20 minute mile (3mph) on an incline of at least 3. I estimate at least a full hour of straight walking. I'm pushing myself to be ready and I'm confident I will be. I'll be tired and sore, but I'll finish. I walk with a limp which puts strain on my left foot, ankle and up my shin.

With everyone's help, the donations are up to $1,055. I'm now 53% of my goal of $2,000.
Oh yeah, time for a sister competition recap:

Well there's good news and more good news.

I'll start with the good news. Looks like March 2008 was less eventful than March 2007. Yeah! No strokes, no nasty cancer dianosis, no open heart surgery. And now we're into April. Whew.

And now for the more good news. So far, the donations are up to $790.00. Thank you again to everyone who has donated. I say so far, because I'm not done asking. My goal is to raise at least $2,000 and I loved to reach that goal. I have one more month to do it too.
